A New Bernat CAL
1/17/2012 3:11:20 PM
Bernat is hosting yet another Mystery Crochet Along and Knit Along.  I really enjoyed the last one and was happy to add to my repertoire with some new patterns, like the mitre square.  I've never been a big fan of squares and the joining thereof but it was definitely a worthwhile experience.

You can visit Bernat on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/BernatYarns and possibly WIN your supply of yarn needed for this project.

I'm currently working on matching beanies and beards for my son and grandson, who is 9 months old.  I just love his chubbiness!!
Count Me In
9/13/2011 11:18:47 AM
Have you ever been counting money, coupons, pages, etc and had someone count with you only using the wrong numbers which totally throws your count off?  I am guilty of pulling this prank on others and been the victim many times.  When I make a mistake in crochet it is usually a counting one and occurs way more often than I'd like to admit.

I ran across a counting bracelet or
Free Row Counter Bracelet which might not solve all of my issues with counting, but it certainly has its benefits in keeping track of rows.  I normally put a safety pin or stitch marker every 10 rows when I'm working on a large project  but this bracelet idea is a great one and could make for a usefull gift for a crocheter or knitter.
Afghan Joining
8/15/2011 6:17:41 PM

I was cruising along Pinterest and saw this picture

I had never seen so many joining methods for afghans and this one really caught my eye.  I haven't been a big fan of crocheting tons of squares to put together but I've been re-thinking that idea and have begun looking for inspiration.  I don't usually go for the bright colors like the ones shown here but tend to gravitate towards muted tones with texture.  Aran afghans come to mind.  Maybe it's time to bust out of my comfort zone and do something wild and crazy!

I like this look with the white joining. You can find the free pattern here

I also have an old magazine with granny triangles that I really like too. Hmm. To be continued.....

What is your favorite joining method?

Feedback

Gahhhhhhhh!!!  Picture Charlie Brown laying on his back just as Lucy pulled the football out from under him as he was about to kick it.

That's how I felt when I discovered I had not set the fields on the feedback form so I could get your FEEEDBAAACK.  I think the form for the email said something like "example@youremail.com."

I hate when I'm stupid.  But hey guess what???  The feedback form should be working.  I think.  I haven't gotten any feedback yet.

<sound of crickets>

Okay, GO!!
Progress molasses

I stayed up until 2am working on the new site.  I'm trying to add new free crochet patterns and it's slow.  I keep getting glitches in very simple editing mode.  I got up today at 1:45pm.  Not normal even if I did stay up late.  Feel cruddy and the weather is giving me a headache.  I really didn't start this post thinking I would be whining through the whole thing!!

I could really use some feedback on the site, hopefully from folks who knew the old one and can make a comparison.  Am I going in the right direction?  What so you miss?  What do you like better?  Have you posted your picture/link on the photopage?   Has anyone used Weebly?

I haven't crocheted in way too long and have several back issues of Crochet! to go through and see if I can get inspired.  Summer is feeling like its ending; school starts week after next and my vegetable garden went in late and I have yet to eat a fresh tomato or squash!!

Ok, ok, I'll stop whining.  For now.

This is what I found in my bed at 2am.  The Goof and The Yarneater snuggling.
Surprise!!!

So, what do you think? Is it pretty? Do you like it?  What are your thoughts on the new site design???

I've had so many hiccups with my web hosting service that I jumped ship. I feel like I'm back in kindergarten, re-learning yet another sitebuilder. I won't go into the frustrating details but suffice it to say it's going to take some time for me to get the site up and running to it's fullest potential.

Here's a picture I took of the wild sunflowers down the road from me.  One of my favorite flowers, they're so happy!
